Dr Amaury Triaud from the Cambridge Univerisity Institute of Astronomy, talked to Paul Seagrove about the research.

NASA announced the extraordinary findings of a solarsystem with several planets within the so-called goldilocks zone (habitable zone). Astronomers from the University of Cambridge helped identify the seven planets which are orbiting the TRAPPIST-1 star, located 39 light years from Earth. The discovery raises the possibility of life existing beyond our own solar system since some of the planets could have liquid water on their surfaces.
